Charity-The Right Way To Living

Hello to this beautiful set of individuals that literally could be called my E-Family.

So much love was shown on my last blog post that I could not wait any longer to feed your soul with words of encouragements.

Back to the discussion at hand(sorry for derailing a little), today’s little story would be about Charity.

Most of you folks do not really know where I live..I reside in Nigeria, Lagos State to be precise(don’t come visiting though…Except you beautiful).

For everyday that I get out of my apartment to take a walk or go get something not too far away, an average of five to ten(5-10) kids walks by me selling one sort of item or the other.

It wud be a little bit okay if these set of individuals where up to a reasonable age but No: they are either between the ages of 8-13 years old.

This has troubled my spirit for quite some time now but knowing that this simple act isn’t for their survival alone but that of family and siblings also

Just last week on my instagram feed, I came across one picture of a lady showing off a wristwatch that cost close to three million Naira(After converting it from the currency used in purchasing it).

Now I got curious. I needed to know for sure if this *celebrity* lady was ever involved in any philanthropic work. Fam, “None whatsoever”

I said to myself. That can’t be true, she could afford a Wristwatch which am very confident doesn’t tell the time you going die or even when the saviour is coming back. Certainly she must have at least helped a soul through school or bring out a family from the shackles of poverty. Again, research shows none.

This got me thinking. Are we really that selfish?
Charity isn’t just buying some kids candies because you like seeing the way they have a go at it.

Nope, not one minute. Charity is a lifestyle. It must be a lifestyle. Helping others in need should be the highlights of one’s day.

Putting smiles on the faces of those in genuine need should be more of a priority to any individual than getting the latest handbag or sneakers.

I know what you must be thinking. “Hello Steven, I worked for the money. It is my money and I can spend it the way I like”

Correct. It is your money and you worked for it. But that doesn’t qualify you to be wasteful with it.

Quick Quotes; the breath you burn every second of everyday, did you work for it?, Are you entitled to the sound health you currently enjoying? Or did you make a deposit on the peace of mind that you and your family seems to be flexing?’ I don’t think so.

Everyone of this gifts were given to you free of charge. No future billings or hidden charges.

You have been placed on a high stool. Why not touch the lives of people while you still stand.

Some of you might say sorry Steve, that’s your state. We got no business there.

The funny thing about poverty is, it has no bounds. Likewise Charity.

So be the foundation for some people. Be that fire that would polish the diamond in them.
